A Season of Herbs
This elegant and delightful event, the work of an Education Committee task group and more than 20 volunteers, attracted 102 guests. Our efforts were graced by perfect late summer weather. Many of those attending participated in a silent auction for the possession of colorful herb pots provided by MeadowView Growers. A Season of Herbs represents a model for future HBG events, not only for its successful outcomes but for its mode of organization. As with the Bulb Festival section, we are leaving the Season of Herbs section in place for visitors to the web site as an example of HBG activity.
Herb-themed luncheon at the home of Dr. George and Anila Varghese, 3105 Urbana Road.

A variety of treats, each with an herbal component, prepared by HBG volunteers.
Music by the Kennedy String Quartet, led by Nike Lagos.
Presentation by Jane Willeman: "Confessions of an Herb Gardener." Also a brief summary of HBG progress by Paul Parlato.
Charge: $30 per person or $100 for table of four or $200 for table of eight. (Tax deduction of two-thirds for this event.)
