We have engaged the internationally respected Columbus firm, NBBJ Landscape Architects, to produce a Master Plan for our 11-acre plot. NBBJ presented the preliminary version of the Plan, including elaboration of the details within the rendering, at a public forum in August 2007. About 35 people gathered with members of the Hollandia Board of Directors to hear about the plan and were encouraged to offer their comments.  The presentation was also simulcast on public access television.  NBBJ provided the final version of the Plan in November 2007.

The Master Plan for building the Garden consists of seven Phases and carries a construction estimate of $7.1 million.  Phase One, the central section, is the most expensive, at $2.4 million.

We are committed to moving our project forward as quickly as possible.  Thus, while we confront the challenges of a difficult economy and prepare for the complexities of a seven-figure campaign, we have developed an interim plan for Phase One.  This plan, called provisional Phase One (PP1), establishes a visible development at the Garden site--modest but attractive, useful, and attainable.  PP1 also carries the virtue of minimal maintenance.  The estimated cost for PP1, including clearance of the entire site and maintenance endowment, is $850,000.

The HBG Board is currently reviewing the PP1 plan for such details as parking, visibility, a possible pathway to the creek to serve canoeists and kayakers (Buck Creek Navigability and Whitewater project), and service to users of the Bike Path.  We will post the results as soon as they are available.

We welcome your comments and suggestions. Not to mention donations to help us move the PP1 plan forward.
